TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – There’s something to be said about local athletes who come back and give back to their hometown after they’ve made it big. This weekend, Ronnie Harrison makes his return to Tallahassee to host his sixth camp at Florida High, the place where his football journey began, his Alma mater.
Just like in year’s past, the camp is free of charge for boys and girls ages 8 to 16. Harrison, who played at Alabama and recently signed with Miami, said he always had a vision for the camp, but he never thought it’d grow as fast as it has.
He said along with football, he plans to talk to the campers about NIL, financial literacy, and doing the right things. He said he’s happy to come home and be an example to kids that have a dream just like he did.
“Growing up, we didn’t really have, we had a few guys that made it and stuff like that, but Tallahassee wasn’t really big and known for that,” he said. “I just feel like coming back and giving back to those kids and letting them see someone that’s from there that made it and is still doing it and giving them advice and encouragement. That’s the biggest thing man. I feel like we all should do that.”
Harrison said he expects around 200 kids to attend this weekend’s camp. If you want to attend, you can register Saturday morning at Florida High starting at 8:00am.
