A Jacksonville 16-year-old could spend the next 20 years of his life in prison for killing another teenager.
A Duval County judge sentenced LeBron Jacobs to prison for the shooting death of 17-year-old Ken’yade Jones. Jacobs was 15 at the time.
Jacobs turned himself in in December 2024, two months after the shooting. Although initially charged with second-degree murder, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in January.

Police responded to Venus-Mars Court in the Hogan’s Creek area on October 5, 2024, to investigate after Jones died at the hospital.
According to the arrest report, multiple witnesses identified LeBron Jacobs, a Grand Park Career Center student, as the suspect. One recalled seeing him arguing with the victim prior to shooting him and running away.
Following his prison sentence, a judge ordered that Jacobs be put on probation for eight years after two years of GPS monitoring.
