Officials say they have located a 23-year-old man in Florida after he disappeared near Siesta Key Beach on Tuesday night

A missing 23-year-old swimmer has been found safe after officials spent a night searching for him off the coast of a Florida beach.
On Tuesday, June 2, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office announced they were conducting a search for the man after he entered the water and never returned to the shore near Siesta Key Beach.
A 911 caller reported to officials around 10:30 p.m. local time that the person was “an adult Asian male … approximately 6 feet tall, with tattoos on his arm.”
“Responding deputies located personal items on the beach belonging to the missing man,” the sheriff’s office said, adding that their dive team was involved with the search along with other local officials and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The next morning, officials said that the missing man — identified as 23-year-old Ethan McNary — had been located about four miles away, near the intersection of Beneva Road and Clark Road and away from the water.
He was “safe,” they said.
“We would like to thank our SCSO personnel, partnering law enforcement agencies, and everyone who assisted in the extensive search efforts that led to this positive outcome,” the sheriff’s office said.
One Siesta Key resident, Debby Darby, told local station WTSP that the incident was unusual for the town — which has a year-round population of about 5,500 people.

“There’s police activity frequently, but not like tonight, where there’s police cars and fire rescue,” she said. “And when I saw it on the beach, then I’m like, that’s really odd because you don’t see things happen on the beach.”
Officials have not shared further details on McNary’s disappearance, according to Fox station WTVT, including why left the beach or how he arrived at where he was found by deputies several miles away.
