JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A single mysterious bone found on the side of a Jacksonville road led to the launch of a full-on human death investigation.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a bone on the side of Lincrest Road South in the Harborview area, was discovered late Wednesday night. Police were called out to the scene, along with a Medical Examiner’s Office doctor, who determined it belonged to a person.

That bone led to a larger search of the area. Thursday morning, police say a cadaver dog led them to the backyard of a home on the same street where more skeletal remains were found.
A search warrant was obtained for the property and investigators combed the scene Thursday for evidence.
Police were not able to immediately identify the deceased person. How they died and how the skeleton arrived in the yard remains unclear.
