ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – A Florida man is back in Michiana to face charges in connection with a man’s murder 45 years ago.
Two men were arrested and charged earlier this year in connection with the death of Donald Wasserman of Mishawaka in August 1981.
One of those men, 75-year-old Robert Sage from Ocala, Florida, is now in the Elkhart County Jail. Authorities booked him Wednesday.
According to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office, Wasserman’s wife reported him missing to the Mishawaka Police Department after he had not returned from a meeting with Sage in Elkhart on Aug. 16, 1981.
Wasserman’s abandoned car was found the following day in Elkhart County, and his body was found several days later on an embankment near the Indiana Toll Road overpass and County Road 131.
The other man charged in the case, 71-year-old Daniel Martin of Elkhart, was brought into custody in late March. According to online court records, Martin is scheduled to go on trial July 6.
