Former FSU star linebacker Buster Davis named Columbus North head coach
Columbus North High School has found its next leader for the 2026 football season.
Former collegiate standout and NFL linebacker James “Buster” Davis has been named the next head coach of the Bull Dogs’ 6A program, according to a report by Indiana Preps.
Davis starred at Florida State from 2002-06 before being selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He later spent time with the Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts.
During his senior season with the Seminoles, Davis earned first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) honors and second-team NCAA All-America recognition after recording 109 tackles – eight for a loss – and five sacks.
A Daytona Beach native, Davis brings coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels.
He takes over a Columbus North program coming off a 4-6 season, during which the Bull Dogs dropped their final four games. The team has not posted winning records in consecutive seasons since the 2020-21 season.
