A Port St. Lucie man, Sebastian Thibodeau, was arrested after a burglary at an apartment complex, where a homeowner used a security camera to catch him inside the residence in real time.Stay up to date: The latest headlines and weather from WPBF 25According to the Port St.Lucie Police Department, officers responded to an apartment in the 5400 block of Northwest Moorhen Trail around 3:38 p.m. on June 4 after a resident received a motion alert from his home security system while he was away. When the victim checked the live camera feed, he saw a masked man inside his apartment.Investigators said the homeowner activated the camera’s audible siren, causing the suspect to briefly leave before going back inside and tampering with the device. Witnesses told officers they saw the suspect leave the apartment and run into another unit in the same building. When officers arrived, they found signs of forced entry, including damage to the front door and frame. Police surrounded the building and called in a SWAT team. After multiple announcements, the suspect came out of the apartment and was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance video from several sources, including doorbell cameras, which showed a man matching the suspect’s description near the apartment before and after the break-in. Investigators also said the suspect tried to hide his actions by blocking a security camera.Police said a watch valued at about $300 was stolen during the burglary. Detectives arrested 36-year-old Sebastian Thibodeau and charged him with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling.
