Tampa, Fla. (WINK) – Sen. Rick Scott demanded action against rapper Ye ahead of his concert in Tampa on June 26.
Scott said on X that Ye’s “antisemitic remarks are vile & a slap in the face to Florida’s Jewish community. He followed by saying it’s “EXTREMELY troubling that TAXPAYER dollars are being used to fund his upcoming concert in Tampa.”
The award-winning rapper, who formerly went by Kanye West, has faced multiple controversies throughout his career, as well as accusations of antisemitism and racism.

In an open letter to the Tampa Sports Authority Board of Directors, Scott said that Ye’s anti-Semitic attacks are an affront ot the values of the Hillsborough County community.
“He was recently barred from performing in the United Kingdom due to offensive antisemitic remarks. I urge you to carefully review this decision, given the fact that taxpayer dollars are helping the show go on.”
Scott offered assistance to the Tampa Sports Authority Board of Directors with any needs related to Ye’s concert at Raymond James Stadium.
As of Friday, the Tampa Sports Authority Board of Directors has not publicly responded to Scott’s letter.
