TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Apalachee Center showcased its patients’ work at its 12th annual art show on Friday.
This year’s theme is “The Art of Creating Health and Healing in Community.”
The Apalachee Center says the exhibit is intended to bridge the outside community with clients in the center.

The lead art therapist at Apalachee Center and curator of the event, Jasmine Blake, talked about the turnout and the importance of allowing clients in the facility to express themselves artistically.
“I think it’s a very beautiful experience. We’ve had several clients tell us over the last month that they are very excited to know and proud to know that their artwork will be displayed to other people so that other people can learn about who they are and what they’re doing here at Apalachee Center, and really helping to bridge that gap,” Blake said.
Peyton Davis, the music therapist at the center, created an original remix of Bob Marley’s hit song “One Love” to reflect the experiences of the artists who participated this year. She spoke about the benefits that music has on everyone.
“We use music to help our feelings and emotions, which can help shape our thoughts. So we want to use music in a way that helps shape the mental health, emotional health, and physical health,” Davis said.
The team says they are already looking forward to next year’s exhibit.
