One person of interest has been taken into custody after a man was critically injured in a shooting in Miami Beach early Friday, police said.

Officers responded to the shooting in the 6700 block of Collins Avenue near Sand Bar + Kitchen at around 4:53 a.m.

Once there, police found a man who had been shot. The Miami Beach Fire Department took him to the hospital in critical condition.

Police vehicles could be seen for several blocks in the area, along with the SWAT team.

Northbound traffic on Collins Avenue was shut down from 67th to 69th streets. Drivers are being diverted west on 67th Street to Harding Avenue and Indian Creek Drive.

At around 11 a.m., NBC6 cameras were rolling as two men were led away by police. Later, authorities said one person of interest was in custody for questioning.

A motive for the gunfire was not immediately provided. The victim’s identity hasn’t been released.

The investigation is active and ongoing, police said.
