• I’m ticked off! I’m sitting at a stoplight waiting for the light to turn green. The light turns green, but the guys in the car in front of me are playing with their phones or something. So I beep my horn to let them know the light is green. Now we have a minor confrontation. You can’t even beep your horn at somebody without causing a confrontation these days.

• I’m ticked off that people don’t realize how quickly a child can drown in a pool or any body of water. If your child is missing, don’t go looking through the house, in the closet or under the bed. Run to the nearest body of water, whether it’s your pool, a drainage ditch or a lake and look for your child. With less than three minutes to rescue them, you need to realize the clock was already ticking before you realized they were gone.

• Groveland has a major traffic problem at the intersection of State Road 50 and State Road 19. The traffic lights there cannot absorb and properly handle the heavy traffic in that area. The area also has a lot of heavy truck traffic. State road engineers should study the problem and try to find some design solutions.

The flip side

• Thank you to the Longwood Police Department for sponsoring the bingo/luncheon event at the Longwood Community Building. This event is held quarterly by the Longwood PD. In addition, many thanks to the local merchants for donating the prizes to be awarded and to the local restaurants for preparing the lunches.
