Two people were taken to the hospital after an overnight shooting in Northwest Miami, and an officer’s cruiser was struck by a vehicle while on his way there, police said.
According to Miami Police, officers on Friday received a ShotSpotter alert at Northwest Second Avenue and 38th Street.
Police said the driver drove to Northwest Fifth Street and near 46th Street, where he called 911.
The man was shot in the shoulder, and a passenger in the car was possibly grazed.
They were taken to the Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.
While a sergeant was on his way to the scene, a vehicle that ran a stop sign struck his cruiser, and it was overturned.
The sergeant was OK, but was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
It’s unclear if the driver who struck the sergeant was arrested.
