A driver accused of hitting a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy and fleeing the area was arrested on Friday, deputies said.
Sean Alexis, 40, was charged with hit-and-run/failure to stop and remain at the scene of a crash and hit-and-run/leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property.
According to BSO, the crash happened on Friday at around 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of West Broward Boulevard and Northwest 11th Avenue.
The deputy was involved in a hit-and-run crash, and the other driver ran away from the scene following the collision, officials said.
Paramedics transported the deputy to a nearby hospital.
BSO said Alexis was found Friday night and was taken into custody.
He remains at the Broward County Main Jail.
The deputy who was struck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
It’s unclear if he is still at the hospital.
