A driver accused of hitting a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy and fleeing the area was arrested on Friday, deputies said.

Sean Alexis, 40, was charged with hit-and-run/failure to stop and remain at the scene of a crash and hit-and-run/leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property.

According to BSO, the crash happened on Friday at around 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of West Broward Boulevard and Northwest 11th Avenue.

The deputy was involved in a hit-and-run crash, and the other driver ran away from the scene following the collision, officials said.

Paramedics transported the deputy to a nearby hospital.

BSO said Alexis was found Friday night and was taken into custody.

He remains at the Broward County Main Jail.

The deputy who was struck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s unclear if he is still at the hospital.
