For the second year in a row, WESH 2 is a proud partner of the Seniors First 36th annual Turkey Trot 5K on Thursday, Nov. 27. The annual Thanksgiving event raises crucial funds for vital programs like Meals on Wheels. >>>Video in player above: 35th annual Turkey Trot 5k 2024Hosted at Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando, the race is considered the largest Turkey Trot 5K in Central Florida, attracting more than 4,500 participants. “Over the past 36 years, the Turkey Trot has become a tradition for many here in Orlando,” said Marsha Lorenz, president and CEO of Seniors First. “When the community gathers at Lake Eola on Thanksgiving morning, they’re not just running; they’re participating in a ‘Race to End Senior Hunger’ and every step they take brings us closer to that goal.”Runners, joggers and walkers are invited to participate in full costumes and Thanksgiving hats.
