Fort Lauderdale United FC announced today that Tyrone Mears will return to the touchline as Head Coach for the upcoming 2026 Gainbridge Super League campaign.
Mears, who famously guided the club to the inaugural Super League Final during the 2024/25 season, steps back into the technical area for the franchise’s third year. Interim Head Coach Paul Jennison, who steady fielded the team during Mears’ absence, will remain with the club as a key member of the coaching staff.
A Proven Track Record
Mears’ first stint as head coach established Fort Lauderdale United FC as an immediate powerhouse in women’s soccer. During the club’s inaugural season, he coached the team to an impressive 12-9-9 record (42 points), secured two Coach of the Month honors, and orchestrated a thrilling run to the Super League Final.
He carried that momentum into the 2025/26 season, picking up a third Coach of the Month award before transitioning to the front office on September 16th as the President of Soccer.
