Oddsmakers expect Clemson football to have their hands full when Miami comes to Death Valley on Oct. 3, but they also aren’t expecting the Tigers to be overwhelmed.
BetMGM has Clemson as a 5.5-point underdog against the Hurricanes, a line that’s slightly tighter than the 7-point spread currently available at DraftKings. Considering Miami enters the season as the defending ACC champion and national runner-up, it’s a number that shows plenty of respect for Dabo Swinney’s team.
The Hurricanes remain the clear favorite to win the ACC in 2026, while Clemson sits behind Miami, SMU and Louisville in DraftKings’ conference championship odds. The Tigers have seen their odds improve from +1600 to +1400 since opening, but the betting market still has questions about whether Clemson is ready to return to the top of the conference.
Still, a 5.5-point spread suggests oddsmakers believe Clemson can be a legitimate threat in one of the biggest games on the ACC schedule. If the line holds, Miami would become the first team favored at Memorial Stadium since Notre Dame was a 3.5-point favorite in 2023. Clemson won that game 31-23.
The Tigers are currently underdogs in only one other game, the season opener at LSU, where they’re getting 10.5 points. With several months remaining before kickoff, the line could certainly move, but for now, Clemson is expected to be right in the mix against one of the nation’s top teams.
