TAMPA, Fla. — A local band represented Tampa Bay all the way in France this weekend.

The Eastern Hillsborough Community Band traveled to Normandy to play in the D-Day Memorial Parade and Ceremony.

They played Friday with nine other bands from across the U.S. honoring the heroes of World War II.

Saturday, they performed a concert in Sainte-Mère-Église, the first French town liberated by Allied Forces after the D-Day landing. After performing, band members marched through the streets of Normandy in the annual parade.

The organization says it was “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
