Less pain at the pump: Florida gas prices continue to decline

  • June 8, 2026

TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – Florida gas prices declined for the second consecutive week, falling 72 cents per gallon over the past 18 days, AAA says.

Sunday’s state average of $3.80 per gallon was 27 cents less than a week ago and 72 cents less than a month ago.

According to AAA, the recent drop in gas prices follows a sharp decline in oil prices over the past few weeks. However, oil prices remain sensitive to global developments, and short-term increases remain possible.

If overnight reports of missile strikes between Israel and Iran contribute to higher oil prices, gas prices could rise as a result.

Gas prices in Florida often follow a weekly price cycle, AAA noted. Retailers typically lower prices to remain competitive, then raise them to restore margins.

This reset can happen quickly and often leads to sudden price increases at the start of the week, with prices commonly jumping on Monday afternoons.

As a result, even as gas prices are trending lower overall, drivers may still see short-term increases during the week.

Regional Prices

Most expensive metro markets – West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($4.04), Tallahassee ($4.01), Miami ($3.96)

Least expensive metro markets – Pensacola ($3.61), Orlando ($3.64), The Villages ($3.65)
