ORLANDO, Fla. — As the community prepares to mark 10 years since the Pulse nightclub shooting on Friday, more information about the memorial to honor the 49 victims is expected to be revealed Monday.
One of the companies responsible for the future memorial is expected to provide city commissioners with an “abbreviated” version of the 60% Pulse memorial design plan update, originally provided in May
During that May meeting, the design plans detailed the vision for the inside of the visitors’ pavilion. Renderings included a timeline of events from the day of June 12, 2016, the date of the shooting, as well as some of the artifacts removed from inside the nightclub at the beginning of the year.
The memorial will be about 3,500 square feet, with previous designs also including a reflection pool, a fountain wall and healing garden.
Construction is set to begin in September, and the memorial is scheduled to be completed in Fall 2027.
