TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Public records show just how many speeding tickets were issued from school zone speed cameras in Tallahassee this school year.
More than 44,000 tickets were given from September 2025 to late May 2026, records reveal.
If you’re driving more than 10 miles above the school zone speed limit, the camera will take a photo of your license plate and mail the $100 citation to the registered owner of the car.
Initially, the citation will not affect your driver’s license or insurance. However, TPD said if the fine is not paid within 30 days, the citation will turn into a traffic ticket, which could impact your driving record.
Ruediger Elementary and Raa Middle had the most tickets issued, nearly 11,000, followed by De Soto Trail, Cobb Middle, Kate Sullivan, Springwood and Griffin Middle.
Records show just over 60% of those tickets have been paid.
The speed enforcement cameras were made possible by House Bill 657, signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in May 2023.
