Dear Editor,
I wish to salute long-time Key Biscayne citizen Jane Morris as she retires from the Key Biscayne Community Foundation and leaves us for Pawley’s Island, S.C.
I remember Jane as a beautiful, young “20-something” with whom it was fun to enjoy boating and backyard barbeques. Next, she was a young homemaker and mother on the Key with two young sons, Ryan and Sean.
In her next iteration, Jane was a long-serving and much beloved teacher at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Montessori School. She served on the Fourth of July Parade Committee. There is more. I will always admire how Jane helped her friends’ mother, early Key Biscayne resident, Jean Yehle, as Jean was getting older and needed a helping hand. Who does that for someone who is not her own mother? Jean was such a caring mentor to so many and a very special woman.
As her culminating career move, Jane became highly involved in the Key Biscayne Community Foundation and again used her talents and lovely personality on behalf of our village.
Thank you, Jane! Key Biscayne is a better place and we are better people because of you. We will miss you but remember all you have done for our community. Your contributions will last beyond your departure. Bon voyage!
