This month is the second annual People’s Pride Night. It is an alternative space for people to enjoy live music, drag performances, vendors and speakers.

The People’s Pride Coalition was founded in 2024 and aims to speak out against any injustices the queer community faces.

They also call on St. Pete Pride to stop accepting donations from weapons manufacturers and corporations that benefit from war and environmental damage.

“We did a deep dive into all their sponsors in 2024 and provided them with the information on all the wrongdoings of these companies and said ‘hey we demand that you guys cut ties with these corporations’ and well they haven’t,” said V Garcia, a representative from the Tampa Alliance against Racist and Political Repression (TAARPR) in the People’s Pride Coalition.

They say some of the organizations that have appeared in St. Pete Pride’s parade are Jabil, Mosaic, GE Aerospace, Honeywell Aerospace and more.

Additionally, the coalition requests that St. Pete Pride formally implement a policy to not contract local law enforcement.

And to not allow interference from federal immigration agents in the parade and related events.

St. Pete Pride did not respond to WMNF’s request for an interview.

People’s Pride Night is June 26th from 6 PM to 10 PM at Allendale United Methodist Church in Saint Petersburg.
