MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A northwest Miami-Dade mother is facing child abuse and neglect charges after deputies said her 8-year-old daughter reported being beaten, left alone for long periods and forced to eat expired food or food from the trash.

According to an arrest report obtained by our news partners at CBS Miami, 27-year-old Naseline Timouche was arrested June 6. She is charged with aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm and child neglect without great bodily harm.

Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office were called to a home over the weekend for a welfare check. When they arrived, investigators said they spoke with the child and noticed numerous marks and scars on her body.

The girl told deputies she was often left home alone for extended periods, including overnight, the report said. She also told investigators her mother hit her with several objects, including a cord, frying pan and spatula.

Investigators said the child reported that she was not fed regularly because the food in the home was reserved for “guests.” The arrest report said the girl was instead allowed to eat expired food or food taken from a garbage can.

The report also said the child told deputies she was sometimes woken up and hit for no apparent reason, including once with a charging cable to the face.

Deputies said the injuries they observed appeared consistent with the child’s statements.

A witness told investigators she had met the girl about two months earlier through another neighbor and had allowed the child to stay at her home and given her food because the girl had been left alone several times, according to the report. The witness also told deputies she gave the child food and clean clothes on June 5 after finding her walking around without adult supervision.

Investigators said Timouche made some admissions during an interview with detectives. She was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

No additional details were immediately released.
