TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida’s First Lady is promoting her plan to meet the needs of families in poverty.
On Tuesday, at a Florida Chamber of Commerce event in Tampa, Casey DeSantis advocated for a stronger union between the state’s private sector and faith community.
She referenced Hope Florida’s plan to collaborate with the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s Prosperity Initiative.
She spoke about the need for more tangible results to relieve Florida families and the role that Hope Navigators serve.
“At the end of the day, you can say economic self-sufficiency, you can say prosperity, but for me it’s happiness. I don’t want to walk by somebody who’s on the side of the road and think there’s nothing we can do. Yeah, there’s a lot we can do,” she said.
Hope Florida has faced scrutiny in the past over an alleged missing $10 million donation. Since its launch in 2016, the Florida Prosperity Initiative has helped reduce childhood poverty in the state by 200,000 children.
