PORT ST. LUCIE — A 32-year-old man was arrested on assault, lewd & lascivious exhibition, disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence charges after he allegedly threatened employees at a Port St. Lucie business, exposed himself and fled from responding officers, according to Port St. Lucie Police reports.

Alec James Perky was asked to leave the Kava Kat business at the 1000 block of Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard, Port St. Lucie at about 12:16 a.m., June 6 after he was seen drinking alcohol at the alcohol-free environment, according to police reports.

Perkey allegedly became argumentative and started threatening employees and the business, telling them that he planned to return and throw a Molotov cocktail at the business, according to police reports.

Perkey then went out to his car, returned with a baseball bat and allegedly used it while attempting to intimidate employees and patrons, according to police reports. During the incident, Perkey also allegedly exposed himself and engaged in lewd behavior, according to police reports.

When officers arrived, Perkey fled into a heavily wooded area behind the plaza. Officers established a perimeter and repeatedly ordered him to surrender. After multiple attempts to evade them, officers pursued Perkey on foot and ultimately took him into custody after trying to taser him. Perkey continued to resist and officers had to physically carry him out to have him be evaluated by emergency medical personnel, according to police reports.

Perkey was charged with two counts of lewd & lascivious exhibition; four counts of assault; one count of disorderly intoxication; and one count of resisting an officer without violence.

He was subsequently booked into the St. Lucie County Jail where he remained as of June 8 on a $10,000 bond, according to jail records.

“This incident escalated from a disturbance call into a situation where employees and patrons were genuinely concerned for their safety,” Chief Leon Niemczyk said in a statement. “Our officers responded quickly, safely apprehended the suspect, and ensured there was no further threat to the public.”
