A 32-year-old man is accused of being intoxicated, threatening employees with a baseball bat and exposing himself at a Port St. Lucie business, according to a police news release.

Alec Perkey was arrested early June 6 and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition and four counts of assault, as well as disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence, according to the news release issued June 8.

Police officers went about 12:15 a.m. to Kava Kat at 1046 S.E. Port St. Lucie Blvd. regarding a disturbance involving an intoxicated man, later identified as Perkey, according to the news release.

According to the investigation, employees had asked Perkey to leave the business after seeing he was heavily intoxicated and drinking alcohol on the property, when Kava Kat is an alcohol-free establishment, according to the news release.

Witnesses said Perkey became argumentative and began making threats toward employees and the business, including threatening to return and throw a Molotov cocktail at the establishment, according to the police.

Perkey then was accused of getting a baseball bat from his vehicle and using it while attempting to intimidate employees and patrons, according to the news release. Witnesses said they feared for their safety and believed Perkey was capable of carrying out his threats.

During the incident, Perkey also is accused of exposing his genitals and engaging in lewd behavior toward employees.

When officers arrived on scene, Perkey ran into a heavily wooded area behind the plaza. Officers set up a perimeter and repeatedly ordered him to surrender.

Officers chased him on foot and took him into custody using a Taser, according to the news release. He continued to resist their efforts to remove him from the wooded area and had to be physically carried out of the area.

Perkey was taken for medical evaluation before he was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail, where he remained June 8 with a $10,000 bail, according to the jail’s website.
