JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Crews are now cleaning Jacksonville’s American Legion after a tornado ripped through and destroyed the facility in March.
On March 12, an EF-0 tornado ravaged the post, which was constructed in 1981 to support veterans. Nobody was injured or inside at the time of the storm.
Officials say they plan to rebuild the site in the future, with a flag retirement ceremony set for 8 a.m. Saturday.
