HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Two 16-year-olds from St. Petersburg were arrested Wednesday after they led a high-speed chase through Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Around 1:30 a.m., troopers said they responded to a call from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the pursuit of a Toyota Highlander.
The pursuit began on Interstate 75 near mile marker 257.

Troopers continued to follow the Highlander on I-75 until the suspects took the exit to the Selmon Expressway.
There, troopers said the suspects drove into the grass median between the mainline and exit ramp in an attempt to evade them.
The suspects then drove back onto the exit ramp and continued on the Selmon Expressway until exiting again at U.S. 301.
According to troopers, the suspects “continued to evade” them, driving up to 120 mph and running red lights.
FHP said the suspect began to lose control of the vehicle near Stannum Street.
One of the troopers attempted to perform a precision immobilization technique (PIT), but the driver managed to regain control of the vehicle.
The trooper attempted another PIT maneuver on the other side of the vehicle, sending the Highlander toward the median at U.S. 301 and Columbus Drive.
Two 16-year-olds in the vehicle were arrested and taken to the juvenile center.
