An expensive home remodeling scam, a community center parking lot DUI arrest, and a joint traffic enforcement detail targeting cyclists highlight this week’s Key Biscayne police blotter.

The Key Biscayne Police Department responded to dozens of incidents between June 1 and June 7, including residential alarms, traffic accidents, and neighborhood disputes.

The most significant incident occurred on June 3, when a homeowner on Grapetree Drive fell victim to an intricate $25,000 wire fraud scam involving a compromised email from a construction company. Officers also made arrests for driving under the influence and outstanding bench warrants during a busy week on the island.

June 1, 2026

While on patrol, officers at the 400 block of Hampton Ln. issued a parking citation to a vehicle obstructing the flow of traffic.

Officers issued a parking citation to a vehicle parked in a prohibited parking area at the 10 block of Village Green Way.

KBPD assisted KBFD with a medical call ocean side, around the 400 block of Grand Bay Dr. KB-26-0536.

Police conducted a traffic stop for a crosswalk violation at Crandon Blvd. & Sonesta Dr. Officers contacted the vehicle operator and issued a citation.

June 2, 2026

Officers responded to the 80 block of W. McIntyre St. regarding a medical call. No transport was needed. KB-26-0538.

Units conducted a traffic stop of a golf cart at Fernwood Rd. & W. McIntyre St. Officers contacted the operator and issued two (2) citations.

While on patrol, officers at the 200 block of W. Enid Dr. issued a parking citation for a parking violation.

Police completed a traffic stop of a vehicle for a tag violation at the 60 block of Harbor Dr. A records check confirmed the tag did not belong to the vehicle stopped. Officers issued two (2) citations, seized the tag, and had the vehicle towed. The tag was placed into evidence. KB-26-0539.

June 3, 2026

KBPD officers were contacted from the 600 block of Grapetree Dr. regarding a fraud. The victim stated they were remodeling their home with Centerline Construction Inc. They received an invoice in the amount of $25,000.00 dollars. Centerline Construction had previously emailed On 05-26-2026, they emailed the victim a revised attachment with a different bank name, bank routing number and account number. The updated attachments were fraudulent. The victim wire transferred the $25,000. 00 on 05-27-2026 at approximately 3:00 pm. The victim became aware of the fraudulent wire transfer on the same day at approximately 5:00pm. The victim already filed a fraud report with Bank of America. KB-26-0540.

Police were dispatched to a residential alarm at the 300 block of Gulf Rd. As the officers responded, the call was cancelled.

Units were contacted from the 100 block of Ocean Lane Dr. regarding a found iPhone. Police were able to verify the owner and advised them their phone was at the police station. KB-26-0541.

June 4, 2026

Units conducted a traffic stop at the 400 block of Crandon Blvd. for a tag violation. Officers contacted the driver and completed a records check. The check revealed the driver had a suspended driver’s license and two open bench warrants. The driver was taken into custody and transported to TGK Jail for booking. KB-26-0542.

KBPD units worked a joint traffic enforcement detail at Calusa Circle with MDSO. Eight (8) citations were issued to cyclists for running the stop sign.

Police were contacted from the 80 block of W. Enid Dr. regarding a found pink scooter. The scooter was secured in the bike locker. KB-26-0543.

Officers were dispatched to Mashta Bridge for a fishing violation. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate anyone.

KBPD officers were notified of a female driver who had hit a parking column in the parking lot of the community center located at Crandon Blvd. & W. McIntyre St. The driver attempted to leave the area before being stopped by police. The driver appeared to be under the influence. Roadside examinations were performed and the driver was taken into custody for D.U.I. the driver was taken into custody and transported to TGK Jail. KB-26-0544.

Police conducted a traffic stop at the 200 block of Fernwood Rd. The driver was contacted and issued a citation.

Units responded to the Community Center regarding a parking violation. Officers issued a parking citation.

Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Ocean Lane Dr. regarding a minor traffic accident, with no injuries. Officers contacted the parties involved and completed a traffic crash report. KB-26-0545.

KBPD officers responded to a residential alarm at the 30 block of W. Mashta Dr. Officers checked the property and all appeared secure.

June 5, 2026

Units were dispatched to a residential alarm at the 500 block of W. Mashta Dr. Officers checked the property and all appeared secure.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Redwood Ln. regarding an informational report. Upon arrival, contact was made with the complainant who told police at approximately 0700 hours, they went outside to place their garbage out for collection, when they observed what appears to be eggs thrown against the exterior wall of their residence. The complainant advised that eggs were not present the previous evening. A canvas of the surrounding area was conducted; however, negative results were met. KB-26-0546.

Officers conducted traffic enforcement around the 6200 block of Crandon Blvd. for speeding violations. Officers issued three (3) citations.

Units stopped a golf cart at Fernwood Rd. & W. Heather Dr. for a stop sign violation. Officers contacted the operator and issued a citation.

Police officers were dispatched to the police station regarding an information report involving a violation of a domestic violence injunction. The petitioner’s brother and temporary legal guardian wanted to report numerous phone calls their brother received from the respondent. The phone calls violate a no contact order in the domestic violence injunction which was filed on July 17th, 2025. One phone call was received on May 26th, 2026, and two subsequent calls on May 31st, from a “scam likely” which returned to the respondent’s personal phone number. KBPD units conducted a traffic stop at W. Enid & Woodcrest Rd. The driver was contacted and issued a citation.

Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Ocean Dr. regarding a minor traffic accident, causing property damage. A vehicle struck a gate. An accident report was completed. KB-26-0548.

The complainant contacted police from the 200 block of Crandon Blvd. and stated they believe a female friend had swapped out a gold chain from their apartment for a different chain. The friend did have access to the apartment until the week prior. Officers documented the concern and provided a case number. KB-26-0549.

Officers were dispatched to Mashta Bridge for a fishing violation. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate anyone.

While on patrol, officers issued a parking citation for a parking violation at the 400 block of Fernwood Rd.

Police responded to the 300 block of W. Palmwood Ln. regarding reports of noise and a loud party. Officers contacted the homeowner and advised them of the call. The party ended once police arrived and people dispersed the area.

Officers observed a golf cart commit a traffic infraction and conducted a traffic stop at the 700 block of Crandon Blvd. The driver was a juvenile, who did not have a driver’s license. The mother was contacted and responded to the scene. A civil citation was issued. KB-26-0550.

KBPD units were dispatched to the 100 block of Ocean Lane Dr. regarding a disturbance. Officers learned the dispute was over a dog barking at another dog. The anonymous party refused police involvement. The complainant requested a report and was provided a case number. KB-26-0551.

June 6, 2026

Police responded to the 100 block of Reef Ln. regarding a loud noise complaint. Officers contacted the resident and issued them a written warning for loud music.

KBPD officers were dispatched to a residential alarm at the 200 block of Cape Florida Dr. Officers checked the property and all appeared secure.

Units were dispatched to Woodcrest Rd. & W. McIntyre St. regarding a dog not being on a leash. On arrival, officers observed the dog on a leash.

Police officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at the 600 block of Ocean Dr. Upon arrival contact was made with the husband who advised their wife came home under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and became very irritated towards him causing him to call the police. Officers contacted the wife, who had a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage emitting from their breath, appeared to be inebriated, and was crying. The wife told police they were under a lot of stress due to being away from their family. There was no physical signs or evidence of abuse or violence on either of the parties. The husband left the residence. Both parties were issued a victims right’s brochure. KB-26-0552.

June 7, 2026

The complainant at the 90 block of Harbor Dr. contacted police regarding an unknown male who approached their vehicle for no known reason screaming and yelling. There was no damage or injuries. Officers documented the incident. KB-26-0553.

While on patrol, officers at the 600 block of Harbor Dr. issued a parking citation for a parking violation.

Police responded to Myrtlewood & W. Mashta Drive regarding a traffic accident. Officers learned a vehicle had struck the yield sign at the intersection. The vehicle was located and a traffic crash report was completed. KB-26-0554.

Units were dispatched to the 300 block of Galen Dr. regarding a missing juvenile female. Officers contacted the father, who told police their child did not report home in time for their curfew. Officers issued a B.O.L.O. for the child and canvassed the area. A short time later, the child returned home and was in good spirits. KB-26-0555.
