Jacksonville Police Department’s campaign to catch drivers not wearing a seat belt during the Memorial Day travel period was a success, according to the department.

The department released the results of its May 15-26 “Click It or Ticket” campaign on Thursday. The campaign targeted drivers who were on the road without a seat belt.

During the campaign, Jacksonville Police Department issued or made:

“Thanks to the efforts of our officers, more drivers and passengers were reminded to buckle up, helping to prevent injuries and save lives,” Chief Doug Thompson said. “Every citation and safety check reinforces the message that seat belts work.”
