JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 11/2/25:
A teenager shot by a Jacksonville deputy Saturday night remains in critical condition, police said Sunday.
The incident happened after a short chase involving a stolen car in the Brentwood area.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers spotted the stolen car and tried to stop it. The driver sped off and crashed into a police vehicle and a nearby building on Myrtle Avenue.
After the crash, multiple people ran from the car.
JSO says one officer chased a suspect who refused to follow commands and kept reaching into his pants.
That’s when the officer fired, hitting the suspect. The officer, identified as Jacob Cahill, was not seriously hurt, though another officer suffered a broken nose in the crash.
The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he is still in critical condition.
