A call about a disturbance resulted in the arrest of a 15-year-old girl on several charges after police said she spat on and scratched an officer.
Jacksonville police initially were called at 7:03 p.m. Thursday to a report of a female causing a disturbance in the 300 block of East Lafayette Avenue. While investigating, officers recognized the teen as having an outstanding battery charge from a May incident in which an emergency medical worker was bitten.
An Echo Ambulance crew was taking the girl for a mental health evaluation about 9:58 a.m. May 20 when an altercation ensued and an EMS worker was bitten and had to be treated for a hand injury, according to a police report.
The girl was not arrested at the time because she still was being treated, police said.
As she was being arrested on the charge of outstanding aggravated battery of an EMT worker, she spat on and scratched an officer, “causing the officer to have a minor laceration,” according to the report.
A charge of aggravated battery of a police officer was added, according to the report.
The girl later was released to her mother, police said.
