TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – It sure feels like summer already as temperatures reach the mid-90s. The official start of the season begins on June 21 at 4:24 a.m.
Tune in weekdays around 2 p.m. to First Alert Daily for a live weather update:
The heat is on:
As you head out for your lunch break this afternoon, it is already HOT. Expect temperatures in the 90s. The humidity is there, but NOT overly oppressive for now.
If you are working outside through the day and into the evening, be sure to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks… You know the drill.
Showers and a few storms will develop this afternoon. They will be hit-or-miss, so pack the rain gear if you are out and about. Showers will have heavy downpours. The best chance of rain will be along and south of I-10.
Another uncomfortable night with temperatures staying in the low to mid-70s, so the air conditioning and fans are recommended again.
A toasty weekend:
More of the same tomorrow and Sunday as random pop-up showers and storms develop in the afternoon, otherwise very HOT in between scattered cooling showers.
Stalling front next week:
A cold front meets with deep tropical moisture next week. This will give the area a better chance for more widespread showers and storms. There may be a few stronger storms with this weather setup. Otherwise, beneficial rain is expected Monday through Wednesday. The clouds and occasional showers should keep temperatures from getting too hot, but it is going to remain very humid.
The front does not move through, but remains stalled across the Tennessee valley for much of next week, which is why the rain chances remain high.
