TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Heat index values soar into the triple digits for the weekend. Meteorologist Cameron Aaron has an update on that summer heat plus when we should see higher rain chances.
Tonight Through Saturday Night
An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible for Friday evening, but we are looking mainly dry and muggy for the overnight. Lows settle in the low-to-mid-70s under a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky.
A steamy weekend is ahead across North Florida and South Georgia. Temperatures on Saturday soar into the mid-90s under a mix of Sun and clouds. Once you factor in the humidity, we should see heat index values in the low-100s. As a result, a Heat Advisory is in place for most of us between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. Be sure to stay cool and hydrated.
During the afternoon and evening, we are expecting some of those random, pop-up showers and thunderstorms. It will not rain for everyone, but pack the umbrella just in case.
After spotty storms for Saturday evening, the forecast should turn drier and mild for Saturday night. Overnight lows bottom out in the mid-70s under a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky.
Tracking Some Changes
The forecast on Sunday is looking very similar to Saturday. We are dry and toasty for the first half of the day. Highs top out in the mid-90s under a partly cloudy sky. Again, heat index values reach the triple digits. During the afternoon and evening, we should see more of those scattered showers and thunderstorms, but we are not anticipating a washout to end the weekend. Lows remain in the mid-70s.
For early next week, the weather pattern is looking a little more soggy and not as steamy.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible on Monday under a mix of Sun and clouds. Temperatures top out in the low-90s, with lows in the mid-70s.
Rounds of showers and storms look to linger into Tuesday and Wednesday. Because of the clouds and the wet weather, our high temperatures are not as hot. We hover in the mid-to-upper-80s, and lows stay muggy in the mid-70s.
Extended Forecast
Looking ahead, the forecast is turning more summerlike to close out next week.
Random, pop-up showers and storms are possible for Thursday and Friday, but the rain coverage is looking a little lower.
As the rain chance comes down, those heat levels begin to ramp up. We climb into the low-and-mid-90s under a partly cloudy sky.
Overnight lows settle in the mid-70s.
