TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Hundreds of Tallahassee residents received food, clothing and other essential items during a community outreach event hosted by St. John Missionary Baptist Church Saturday.
Volunteers distributed clothing, shoes, food and toiletries to families throughout the day as part of the church’s Community Outreach Day. Organizers said the event was designed to help meet the everyday needs of residents while strengthening connections within the community.
Pastor Ervin Montgomery said the church believes its mission extends beyond its sanctuary walls.
“We’re out here just doing our part to make sure we come out the four walls of the church and be there for the community,” Montgomery said.

The outreach included a variety of household necessities, ranging from personal hygiene products to food and clothing.
First Lady Toshiba Montgomery said organizers worked to provide items that families use on a daily basis.
“We have shampoos, we have soaps, we have everything for the everyday need that anyone is seeking, all the necessities,” she said.
According to Montgomery, organizers were prepared to assist more than 300 families through the outreach effort.
