JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A Jacksonville man is facing multiple charges after police say he led officers on a pursuit that reached 100 miles per hour before running into a home and attempting to avoid arrest.
According to arrest records, Johnson Ly, 20, of Jacksonville, was arrested Saturday, June 13, by the Jacksonville Police Department and charged with felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, failure to heed a light or siren, reckless driving to endanger, resisting a public officer, speeding, expired registration, and expired or no vehicle inspection.
Charging documents state the incident began on Gum Branch Road and Onsville Road when Ly allegedly failed to stop for an officer, who was attempting to conduct a traffic stop.
Investigators allege Ly sped away from officers, reaching speeds between 70 and 100 miles per hour in 35 and 45 mile-per-hour zones.
Court records state Ly failed to stop despite emergency lights and sirens and drove recklessly in a manner that endangered people and property.
After the pursuit ended, authorities allege Ly ran into a house, opened the door and then attempted to lie about driving the vehicle before being taken into custody.
Ly was transported to the Onslow County Detention Center, where he was given no bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 15.
