Cape Coral will transition to an online-first permitting system July 1, requiring owner-builders to submit permit applications through the city’s digital portal. Licensed contractors have used the online system since 2024, and city officials said expanding it to all applicants will improve efficiency, reduce wait times and provide around-the-clock access to services. The online platform allows users to submit applications, upload documents, track permit status and receive updates. While in-person counter services will continue, walk-in availability will be reduced. Public computer stations and staff assistance will remain available at City Hall for residents who need help navigating the system.
