Tampa, Fla. (WFLA) — The week ahead looks very typical for mid-June, with warm, muggy mornings and hot afternoons. Temperatures will run a little above, normal each day.
A southwest wind flow stays in place for much of the work week. That setup usually keeps the best rain chances farther inland and toward the east coast of Florida. For Tampa Bay and the west coast, that means many days will start warm and humid with limited rain nearby.
A few showers may try to move onshore from the Gulf during the morning, but most of the afternoon storms should build away from the coast. That keeps rain chances lower for coastal communities and higher for inland spots.
The southwest flow also keeps our nights warmer than usual. Instead of cooling off much, many areas will wake up close to 80 degrees. Starting the day that warm makes it easier for afternoon highs to climb back above average.
Friday brings our best opportunity for a slightly better rain chance along the west coast as the upper-level flow briefly turns more southeasterly. That change does not last long, though. By the weekend, southwest winds return, putting the highest storm chances back inland.
