As a temporary pause in federal food-assistance benefits looms, Pia’s Veranda in Gulfport stepped up to help the community. On Facebook, Pia’s announced it would offer free meals to families in need starting Nov. 1.
Pia’s Veranda Offers Free SNAP Meals
Pia’s calls it the “Government Shutdown To-Go Special.” This is a free pasta dinner available Wednesday through Sunday between 5 and 6 p.m. No purchase is required, and no questions will be asked.
“We at Pia’s believe no family should go hungry. Let us help feed your family until things turn back to normal,” the business wrote.
Pia’s Veranda is at 3038 Beach Blvd. S., across the street from the original Pia’s Trattoria.
Other Tampa Bay restaurants offering free meals for children during the SNAP interruption include Gigglewaters in Safety Harbor and Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa.
