JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A Jacksonville man is facing multiple charges after police say he assaulted a woman during a domestic violence incident on June 15.
According to arrest warrants, 52-year-old David Robert Brown is charged with felony assault by strangulation, crime of domestic violence, assault on a female and resisting a public officer.
Court documents allege Brown assaulted a woman by strangulation, causing red marks on her neck. The warrants state the victim reported feeling lightheaded and as though she might pass out.
Authorities also allege Brown used physical force by pulling the victim’s hair, pulling her arm and choking her. Warrants state Brown and the victim had previously been involved in a dating relationship.
Brown is also accused of resisting officers with the Jacksonville Police Department during their investigation. Arrest records allege he attempted to pull away from officers while they were trying to detain him and attempted to return to a bedroom during the domestic violence investigation.
Brown was arrested by the Jacksonville Police Department and transported to the Onslow County Detention Center, where he remains held without bond.
Court records show his first appearance was scheduled for June 16.
