During their last regular Village Council meeting, a second reading of an ordinance to select FSV Construction Company for the Key Biscayne Beach Park renovation project in an amount not to exceed $871,083 was approved 6-0. Councilman Ed London absent.

The Beach Park is designed for Key Biscayne residents. A part-time worker will be onsite this summer controlling the access point, while police officers will be making the rounds after sunset and at other times hoping to thwart access from the beach side, if possible.

Police Chief Frank Sousa said residents will be given a fob for access. The fobs will be monitored when someone moves away and says they lost theirs, for example.

Time locks also will be put in place on bathrooms, which shut down at 10 p.m., when the park closes.
