SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A 28-year-old man was arrested after Hillsborough County deputies said he hit his girlfriend with a vehicle following an altercation.
Deputies responded June 12 to East 138th Avenue after a woman was struck by a car. She was taken to a hospital with injuries the sheriff’s office described as non-threatening.
Detectives said Levi Stevenson and the victim had been in an altercation before the crash. When the victim tried to call for help, Stevenson forcefully took her phone, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was walking along the side of East 138th Avenue when Stevenson veered off the road and struck her with his vehicle, detectives said. He then fled the area.
“A moment of anger should never cost someone their life. This victim showed incredible courage by walking away from a dangerous situation, only to be met with unthinkable violence,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Thanks to the determination of our detectives, this individual is now in custody and will face the consequences of his actions.”
Stevenson was found and arrested June 15.
He faces charges of attempted murder in the second degree and robbery by sudden snatching.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active and any updates will come from its Public Affairs Office.
