Jacksonville’s bicentennial time capsule will be placed into its final location between 8:45 and 9 a.m. Wednesday, so long as weather cooperates, according to city officials.
The time capsule was publicly viewed and sealed during a community event in May, but could not be buried at that time because of a previously unknown electrical line.
The capsule contains letters, photographs, memorabilia, and other items representing Jacksonville during its bicentennial celebration. It is scheduled to remain sealed until 2076.
Motorists should be aware that traffic around the Municipal Building at 200 W. Douglas Ave. may be slowed during the burial.
