UPDATE: I-44 reopened about 6 p.m. to all traffic in Missouri and Oklahoma.
MIAMI, Okla. (KOAM/KJFX) — Two people are dead after an officer-involved shooting, according to the Miami Police Chief.
Multiple agencies are at the scene near the Oklahoma Welcome Center in Miami off I-44.
I-44 closed about 10 a.m. Tuesday from Missouri into Oklahoma as OHP, Miami Police and others investigate an officer-involved shooting.
They have closed I-44 at the state line in Missouri. They have now updated the closing to exit 4, Petro due to heavy traffic.

Officer Involved Shooting Shuts Down I-44
“On Tuesday, June 16th, at approximately 9:00 am, officers were notified of a stolen vehicle traveling west on the Will Rogers Turnpike from Joplin. Several Miami Officers responded to assist. The vehicle was located near the welcome center at exit 313, Miami.A male inside the vehicle produced a weapon and there was an officer involved shooting. Exit 313 Eastbound is closed and Exit 1 Westbound is closed at this time. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the OSBI will be handling the investigation.
