As a very old Key Biscayne resident , I have always paid for my SUNPASS feature, including the transponder, for the Rickenbacker Causeway.
Sometimes, if the car stays under the sun for a long time, the plastic transponder might fall to the floor.
Last July, I received a ticket because I had not realized my transponder was on the car floor. I immediately emailed SUNPASS with proof of my tag, my account and my transponder numbers and my recent yearly payment.
You would think that with today’s technology they could easily check all this and see that I had paid the passage through the entry gate.
Nothing. I had to mail the small check.
