Jacksonville braces for heat and showers as summer like pattern continues.

Tropical Storm Arthur tracks toward Texas

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Hi, it’s Katie Garner with The Weather Authority, here to give you your latest News4JAX forecast.

Tropical Storm Arthur is the first named storm for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. As of the 11 a.m. advisory, Arthur is taking aim at the western Gulf, expected to have the biggest impacts for Texas and Louisiana, where much of the heavy rain is falling.

Right now, Arthur is moving slowly northeast at about 9 miles an hour, with maximum winds around 40 miles an hour. As the storm comes onto land, it’s expected to weaken and lose traction, so impacts here in Northeast Florida are not likely.

Jacksonville’s local weather outlook

While Arthur isn’t expected to directly affect us, we’re still seeing that classic summer pattern here in Jacksonville and all across Northeast Florida.

Heat and rain are in the forecast for today, and the clouds are sticking around. If you’re in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, or Brunswick, you’ll notice temperatures in the mid-80s by lunchtime. Waycross is a little cooler this hour at 79 degrees.

Exact Track 4D shows shower activity

Taking a look at Exact Track 4D radar, showers and storms are scattered from Brunswick all the way down I-95 through Kingsland, over toward Callahan and Macclenny, then onward toward Live Oak and up near Fargo and Lake City.

The radar’s been finicky this morning but I’ll keep tracking these bands as they move through and will bring you a closer look later on.

This type of afternoon pattern means you’ll want to keep your umbrella handy and stay weather-aware. Remember, you can share what you’re seeing with us—just upload your weather photos at SnapJAX!
