Nearly a dozen shelters from across North Florida will come together under one roof in Jacksonville this weekend with one goal: uniting pets with their forever families.

Every year, the Petco Love MEGA Pet Adoption Event happens over the course of one weekend, offering free shelter pet adoptions across the state of Florida. This year, almost 50 organizations in 34 counties will participate.

In 2025, organizers say they were able to adopt out more than 2100 dogs and cats statewide.

In Northeast Florida, hundreds of animals will be available for adoption at the regional event in downtown Jacksonville, hosted at the Prime Osborn Convention Center on June 20 and 21.

“The Petco Love Florida MEGA Adoption Event is an incredible example of what can happen when shelters and communities come together with a shared goal of helping pets find homes,” said Lawrence Nicolas, CEO of the Jacksonville Humane Society. “Every adoption creates space for another animal in need and gives a pet the chance to start a new chapter with a family. We’re excited to join organizations across Florida for this lifesaving effort and hope the community will join us.”

The following shelters will be bringing pets to the regional event for at least one of the two days:

If you’d like to avoid the busy convention center event, certain Petco locations and listed shelters will also be open on Friday, June 19, for waived-fee adoptions.
