A Jacksonville man is facing a child abuse charge following an investigation by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.
According to arrest records, 44-year-old Justin Scott Keiser was arrested Wednesday, June 17 and charged with misdemeanor child abuse stemming from an incident reported on June 7.
Charging documents allege Keiser, who was providing care and supervision for a 10-year-old child, created a substantial risk of physical injury. Investigators say Keiser allegedly held the child upside down while screaming in his face before dropping him to the ground and striking him.
According to the charging documents, the alleged strike was loud enough to be heard on a recording device located approximately 20 feet away.
Keiser was arrested by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Onslow County Detention Center, where he was jailed without bond.
