PORT ST. LUCIE – A man was jailed after police say he used his car to strike another during a “road rage” incident near Crosstown Parkway east of I-95.

Jeffrey Henry, 45, of the 1900 block of Southwest Day Street, Port St. Lucie was arrested on two felony counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and three misdemeanor charges of reckless driving, criminal mischief and hit-and-run, according to a Port St. Lucie Police arrest affidavit.

A man told police that he and a passenger were approaching a traffic signal at Crosstown Parkway and I-95 on June 10 at about 9:10 p.m., when another car approached from behind and swerved into the man’s lane.

The driver said he got out of his car to see whether the man who approached from behind had struck the driver’s car, according to the arrest affidavit.

The man identified as the suspect exited his vehicle and was quoted as saying, “What the (expletive)? What’s up? What’s up?,” according to the arrest affidavit.

The first man said, “Nothing, bro,” got back in his car and drove away as the traffic signal turned green.

According to the driver of the other car, the alleged assailant, who also repeatedly tried to “brake-check the man, attempted to use his vehicle to strike the other man’s, according to the arrest affidavit.

The suspect then ran a red light, made a U-turn to wait for the driver of the other car at Southeast Sandia Drive and Southeast Crosstown Parkway. The suspect then got out of his car and approached the other car “in a threatening manner,” the driver told police.

The suspect then returned to his car and “intentionally” hit the other man’s vehicle as the man was on the phone with 911, according to the arrest affidavit.

The woman passenger in the man’s car had video of the incident on her phone and told police that she was afraid that the suspect might be armed.

She said the alleged assailant also threw a number of items at their vehicle, damaging the hood and a side mirror, according to the arrest affidavit.

The showed the suspect’s car — a Honda Pilot — and its license plate.

Henry was identified as the owner, and investigators found him at his listed address in Port St. Lucie.

Henry was released June 13 from St. Lucie County jail on $130,000 bond, according to jail records.
