WIMAUMA, Fla. — Hillsborough County’s new middle school has reached a construction milestone.
This week, construction crews placed the final beam on the building.
Currently known as “Middle School VV,” the school will serve up to 1,600 students.
The campus, located on the same property as Aquilla J. Morgan High School on West Lake Drive, will help meet the needs of one of the fastest-growing communities in the county.
“In the last 11 years I’ve been on the board, I’ve seen almost 3, 4 dozen housing developments, then with a housing development, you have apartments right next door, so thousands of kids, where are they going to go?” said Hillsborough Schools Board Meeting Lynn Gray.
District officials will start taking public input on a name on June 29.
The school is scheduled to open in August 2027.
